When the coachee left the room
I met my coachee for the first time. We had one full hour for our coaching session.
My coachee – a factory manager in a global company - entered the room with his coffee cup in his hand. He was tense and his mind was not at that moment in our coaching session.
He sat down and started talking and after 10 minutes he was fully participating in the coaching discussion trying to find the final goal to his problem. The discussion went on and he found the core elements to solve his issue. After 30 minutes of coaching he suddenly stood up from his chair and went straight out from our meeting room. There I was sitting and wondering whether this was a successful coaching session or a complete failure... We had one full hour and he left the room after 30 minutes... Suddenly the coachee entered the meeting room again with a huge smile on his face and looking relaxed. “Thank you! I suddenly saw my problem from a different angle. Our coaching discussion helped me to see my core stakeholders who can help me to solve the problem. After that revelation I just had to go out and call them.”
